We cook plant-based food in Marrakech every day, and the question we are asked most by guests is simple: where should we eat tonight? This is our honest answer — the best vegan restaurants in Marrakech and vegan-friendly kitchens we send travellers to, what to order in each one, roughly what it costs, and how to make sure the dish that arrives is genuinely plant-based.

Best vegan food in the Medina
Earth Cafe — the original
Tucked in a derb off Riad Zitoun el Kdim, Earth Cafe has been serving vegetarian and vegan food since 2007 and describes itself as Morocco’s first organic vegan and vegetarian café. Much of the produce comes from the owners’ farm outside the city. Expect a short seasonal menu, generous salads, juices and a calm multi-level dining room after the noise of the square. It is genuinely hard to find the first time — follow the hanging signs and look up.
Marrakech Henna Art Cafe — best value
A small café and art space on Derb Sqaya, near Riad Zitoun el Kdim, with vegan and gluten-free dishes clearly marked on the menu. Reviewers consistently praise the lentil soup, the salad sampler with hummus and aubergine, and the falafel plate, at prices well below the rooftop restaurants. Natural henna is done on site if you want both at once.
Ayaso — best rooftop lunch
On Kedima Square, Ayaso works a farm-to-table angle with a menu that marks vegan dishes: vegetable tagine, couscous, curries, salads, plus vegan breakfast options and plant milk for coffee. The top terrace looks out over the basket market, which makes it a good midday stop between the souks and the palaces.
Mandala Society — best brunch
On Riad Zitoun el Jdid, spread over several floors with a rooftop terrace. The menu covers chia pudding, avocado toast, bowls, dahl and tofu dishes, with plant milks available. Prices are at the upper end for Marrakech, and portions are moderate, but the quality and the terrace are why people go back.
Best vegan-friendly food in Gueliz
Monquotidien
A bakery-restaurant on Rue Yougoslavie with quinoa and Moroccan salads, Berber vegetable tagine and vegetable couscous, and a kitchen that will adapt other dishes on request. Useful for a normal, unfussy lunch in the new town.
Beldi Fusion Kitchen
On Boulevard Mohamed Zerktouni, with hummus, aubergine plates, a falafel bowl and several veggie-forward dishes that can be made vegan when you ask. Cards accepted, outdoor seating, and delivery available in the area.
Best for a special dinner
Bo & Zin
Out on the Route de l’Ourika, about 3.5 km from the centre, Bo & Zin is a large evening restaurant with a genuinely separate vegan menu — croquettes, salads, couscous marrakchi with vegetables, and vegan desserts, which are the hardest thing to find in this city. It opens late and fills up, so reserve and arrange your taxi both ways.

Not in the mood to go out tonight?
Order a fully plant-based Moroccan breakfast or light lunch and we bring it to your riad, hotel or apartment.
How to order so the dish is really vegan
- Ask about smen (fermented butter) in couscous and tagines — it is added at the end, so it is easy for a waiter to forget.
- Ask how the couscous is steamed: meat or chicken stock is standard even for vegetable couscous.
- Ask for no honey on pancakes and pastries, and check amlou, which is sometimes sweetened with honey rather than date or agave syrup.
- Check bread and pastries in bakeries — khobz is plant-based, but croissants and viennoiserie are not.
- Use the ingredient phrase rather than the word vegan: “bla lham, bla zebda, bla ‘assal, bla jben”.
When you would rather stay in
Restaurants are the fun part of the trip; breakfast usually is not, because riad breakfasts are built around bread, eggs, cheese, butter and honey. That is the gap we fill. We cook a complete Moroccan vegan breakfast — msemen and baghrir made with olive oil, amlou, bissara, seasonal fruit, fresh juice and mint tea — and deliver it in a 30-minute slot between 08:30 and 16:00, anywhere in Marrakech, including riads inside the Medina where the courier finishes on foot.
Packs start at 130 MAD per person, delivery is 25 MAD, payment is cash on delivery, and you confirm the order on WhatsApp (+212 673 991614) or through our booking form. Everything we cook is fully plant-based, so there is nothing to check at the door.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best vegan restaurant in Marrakech?
Earth Cafe in the Medina is the best known fully meat-free address and has been open since 2007. For labelled vegan menus in a normal restaurant, travellers most often recommend Marrakech Henna Art Cafe and Ayaso in the Medina, Mandala Society for brunch, and Bo & Zin on the Ourika road for dinner with a dedicated vegan menu.
Are there 100% vegan restaurants in Marrakech?
Fully vegan addresses are still rare; most of the city’s plant-based eating happens in vegetarian kitchens such as Earth Cafe or in vegan-friendly restaurants that label plant-based dishes. A fully vegan delivery kitchen like ours is another way to eat 100% plant-based with no cross-checking.
How much does a vegan meal cost in Marrakech?
In the Medina, a plate of Moroccan salads or a vegetable tagine is usually between 50 and 100 MAD, brunch spots and upscale restaurants run higher, and souk food such as bissara, bread, dates and juice costs a few dirhams. Our breakfast packs start at 130 MAD for one person with 25 MAD delivery.
Do vegan restaurants in Marrakech take cards?
Larger restaurants in Gueliz and tourist areas usually accept cards; small Medina cafés and souk stalls are cash only. Carry dirhams for anything inside the souks. Our delivery is cash on delivery.
Can I get vegan food delivered instead of going out?
Yes. We deliver fully plant-based Moroccan breakfasts and light lunches to riads, hotels and apartments across Marrakech in 30-minute slots from 08:30 to 16:00. Book on WhatsApp at +212 673 991614 at least a day ahead.
